Position Overview: The Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute is seeking a dedicated and skilled research assistant to become a vital part of our dynamic tumour immunology team. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of the immune system's role in maintaining tissue health, combating inflammatory diseases, and addressing cancer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in research initiatives utilizing innovative in vivo and in vitro methodologies to evaluate immune cell functionality across various disease models.
  • Investigate signaling pathways and downstream mechanisms employing state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Collaborate with a motivated team of researchers within a prestigious academic environment, leveraging world-class core facilities to enhance research outcomes.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess proficiency in the following areas:

  • Mouse experimental techniques (existing UK PIL is highly regarded), tissue processing, and cell isolation and manipulation.
  • Advanced flow cytometry (including spectral flow cytometry).
  • Immunological assays, immunofluorescence microscopy, and cell culture methodologies.
  • Molecular biology techniques such as cloning, viral vector design/production, and genome editing strategies.

Experience or a solid understanding of tumour biology/immunology, particularly with mouse tumour models or human patient samples, is essential.

Skills Required:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Capability in project management, method development, data collection, and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to devise innovative experimental strategies to address research inquiries.
  • Capacity to thrive in both independent and collaborative research settings.

Additional Information:

This is a fixed-term position, with funding available for an initial period. Successful candidates will undergo a basic disclosure and security check upon acceptance of the role.
