Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior London Reinsurance Broker to join our team. As a key member of our London office, you will be responsible for assisting with the renewal of reinsurance programs with a focus on US and Canadian clients and prospects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the renewal of reinsurance programs with a focus on US and Canadian clients and prospects.
  • Meet with clients, as necessary, to learn their needs and maintain/develop strong relationships.
  • Assist with the design of new programs for clients' needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers.
  • Negotiate with reinsurers on pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
  • Analyse and summarise underwriting information in preparation for presentation to reinsurers.
  • Assist with the design of contract language.
  • Monitor the follow-up on contract documentation, ensuring the timely flow of materials.
  • Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capability (product lines, capacity, approvals, etc.).
  • Demonstrate proficient awareness of market conditions to better serve clients and obtain the best terms from the markets.
  • Document correspondence in accordance with GC procedures.
  • Manage reinsurance placement details via GC's online portal (GC MarketPlace) in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in (re)insurance broking is preferred.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Business development skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reinsurance terminology and structures.
  • Strong London & North American (re)insurance market knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and industry leaders at all levels (team player).
  • Ability to manage potential conflicts of interest and handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity at all times.
  • Ability to maintain poise under pressure and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and self-motivation.
