Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for the role of AMHP Service Supervisor within the AMHP Services team.

In this position, you will lead the daily operations and management of the AMHP service across the county. Collaborating closely with the AMHP Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and refining this vital service.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Oversee the allocation, deployment, prioritization, and execution of AMHP services.
  • Partner with the Service Manager to develop and assess systems, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive leadership to AMHP Practitioners, ensuring their services are integrated and responsive to local community needs.
  • Guarantee that team practices adhere to relevant standards, are timely, safe, and comply with established professional guidelines.
  • Manage the daily operations of the AMHP Duty Hub.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Professional qualification in a relevant health or social care field.
  • Postgraduate qualification or formal management training.
  • Strong AMHP approval and practical experience.
  • Proven success in managing change and development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated achievements in quality improvement.
  • Ability to contribute significantly to organizational goals.
  • Flexibility and capability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with service users and their families.
  • Experience in clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of contemporary management techniques and information systems.

Desirable

  • First or higher degree.

Communication Skills

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of Department of Health policies, particularly regarding mental health in both primary and secondary care.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of service users and their families.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Understanding of clinical governance principles.
  • Familiarity with the 1983 Mental Health Act.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize complex workloads.
  • Capability to recruit, lead, and develop first-line managers in accordance with policy.
  • Ability to guide front-line staff in risk assessment and management.
  • Proficiency in producing clear written reports, including statistical and financial data.
  • Ability to implement equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices.
  • Ensuring service responsiveness to local community needs.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders, including service users and their families.
  • Capacity to build strong working relationships across the Trust and with partner agencies.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and partner organizations.
  • Skill in presenting complex information and data.
  • Ability to motivate staff to embrace change and achieve challenging objectives.
  • Capacity to work independently with a high degree of initiative.
