Position Overview

The Whittington Emergency Department (ED) is dedicated to serving the diverse community of North London, focusing on delivering exceptional, compassionate care. We are currently seeking a proactive and innovative Lead Emergency Nurse to join our expanding senior nursing team. This role is crucial in providing guidance and support to our nursing staff while ensuring the efficient operation of the department during each shift.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Emergency Nurse, you will:

  • Oversee all areas of the department, serving as a role model and delivering evidence-based care.
  • Act as a shift leader, managing patient flow and ensuring safety and quality of care.
  • Utilize management time effectively to fulfill line management duties and take charge of specific responsibilities.
  • Participate in a tailored development program to enhance your skills, including opportunities for advanced training in areas such as ALS, ATNC, APLS, and more.
  • Engage in teaching and research initiatives to contribute to the advancement of emergency care.

Applicants should possess significant post-registration experience in Emergency Care, hold a degree, and have relevant mentorship and A&E qualifications.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN/RN) with a post-qualification course in Emergency Nursing.
  • Completion of a Mentorship Course (998) or equivalent.
  • At least one of the following: ALS, ATNC, EPLS, or APLS.

Desirable Qualifications

  • BA/BSc or working towards.
  • ENP qualification.
  • Generic Instructor course.
