Research Assistant in Supply Chain Database Analysis and Modelling

**Job Summary**

A position exists for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge to work on the 'UK-India Virtual Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory' project.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**

  • Develop and maintain databases containing comprehensive data on critical mineral supply chains, including production, trade, consumption, and technological advancements.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis using statistical and computational techniques to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the supply chain data.
  • Construct and refine simulation models, including agent-based modelling, system dynamics, and discrete-event simulation, to simulate the dynamics of critical mineral supply chains, incorporating various scenarios and parameters.
  • Reporting and documentation.

**Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience**

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience in database design and development.
  • Experience in Google Cloud Platform tools and services.
  • Experience in SQL, Python programming, and web development.
  • Experience in data visualization.
  • Experience in simulation modelling software (preferably AnyLogic).
  • Knowledge of critical minerals supply chains and their global significance.
  • A proven ability to effectively communicate with academic and industrial partners.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with research group members and external colleagues.
  • Research or work experience in global supply chains, database analysis, and supply chain modelling.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and work efficiently to agreed objectives and timelines.
  • Potential to develop a leading role in projects in the Industrial Resilience Research Group.

**Salary and Benefits**

Research Assistant: £29,605 - £33,966.

**Fixed-term Contract**
