Role Summary:
The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join the Industrial Resilience Research Group. The successful candidate will work on the 'UK-India Virtual Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory' project, focusing on developing and maintaining databases, conducting advanced data analysis, and constructing simulation models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Development: Design and maintain comprehensive databases containing critical mineral supply chain data, including production, trade, consumption, and technological advancements.
- Data Analysis: Conduct advanced data analysis using statistical and computational techniques to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the supply chain data.
- Simulation Modelling: Construct and refine simulation models, including agent-based modelling, system dynamics, and discrete-event simulation, to simulate the dynamics of critical mineral supply chains.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present reports and documentation on research findings and project progress.
Requirements:
- Education: Undergraduate or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in database design and development, Google Cloud Platform tools and services, SQL, Python programming, web development, data visualization, and simulation modelling software (preferably AnyLogic).
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of critical minerals supply chains and their global significance, ability to effectively communicate with academic and industrial partners, and experience in global supply chains, database analysis, and supply chain modelling.
- Personal Qualities: Highly organized, able to prioritize and work efficiently to agreed objectives and timelines, and potential to develop a leading role in projects.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is £29,605 - £33,966. The University of Cambridge offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a pension scheme, health insurance, and access to a range of employee benefits.
