Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) Support Assistant to work in a secondary school recognized for its quality education. This full-time role involves supporting students with diverse educational needs and aims to enhance their learning experience.

Position Overview:

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in aiding students with special educational requirements. Collaborating closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and the teaching staff, your main focus will be to facilitate the educational and personal growth of students facing various challenges, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.

Key Duties:

  • Personalized Support: Deliver individualized and small group assistance to students with SEN, encouraging their engagement with the curriculum and helping them navigate learning obstacles.
  • Classroom Support: Aid teachers in adapting lesson plans and classroom activities to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring accessibility to all educational materials.
  • Monitoring Progress: Maintain comprehensive records of student progress, documenting academic achievements and personal growth. Utilize this data to refine support strategies and communicate effectively with the educational team and families.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement and uphold behavior management strategies, utilizing positive reinforcement to promote appropriate conduct and assist students in developing self-regulation skills.
  • Promoting Inclusion: Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere by encouraging the involvement of SEN students in all school activities, from academic lessons to extracurricular programs.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work in partnership with teachers, the SENCO, and external organizations to ensure a unified approach to supporting each student. This includes participating in meetings, contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and executing agreed-upon strategies.
  • Engaging with Families: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on methods to support learning and development at home.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young individuals, particularly those with SEN, is highly advantageous.
  • A compassionate and patient demeanor, with the ability to foster strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with staff, students, and families.
  • A proactive mindset, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with SEN strategies and interventions, including experience with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management techniques.
  • A sincere commitment to supporting young individuals with special educational needs and assisting them in reaching their full potential.

This role presents a fulfilling opportunity to significantly impact the lives of students with special educational needs. If you are enthusiastic about inclusive education and ready to embrace a challenging yet rewarding position, we invite you to consider the SEN Support Assistant role.
