Educational Support Specialist
Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Educational Support Specialist to work in a secondary school rated 'Good' by Ofsted. This full-time role involves providing essential support to students with diverse learning requirements, ensuring they can fully engage with their education.
Position Overview:
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in delivering personalized assistance to students, enabling them to access the curriculum effectively and reach their academic goals. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about fostering educational success and positively impacting students' lives.
Key Duties:
- Individualized Support: Offer tailored one-on-one and small group assistance to students with additional learning needs, adapting materials and teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
- Classroom Support: Aid the classroom instructor in maintaining an effective learning environment, including preparing activities and assisting students during lessons.
- Differentiated Learning: Collaborate with educators to implement customized instructional strategies that address the unique needs of each student, including modifying tasks and providing extra resources.
- Monitoring Progress: Maintain accurate records of student development, identifying any learning barriers and documenting how these challenges are being addressed.
- Support for Special Educational Needs: Work closely with students with special educational needs, following their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborating with the SEN Coordinator to ensure comprehensive support.
- Emotional and Social Guidance: Provide pastoral care to students, assisting them in building confidence, social skills, and resilience, and offering support during challenging times.
- Communication with Families: Engage with parents and guardians as necessary, sharing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns that may arise.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, support staff, and the broader school community to ensure a cohesive approach to student support, contributing to a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with young individuals in educational or support roles is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting students with varying needs.
- A solid understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional learning requirements and effective strategies to assist them.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently when required.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve success academically, socially, and emotionally.
