Role Summary:

As a SEN Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the educational framework, providing customized assistance to students with special educational needs. Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Personalized Assistance: Engaging with students on an individual basis to offer tailored support, helping them navigate learning challenges and reach their academic goals.
  • Small Group Facilitation: Supporting small cohorts of SEN students within the classroom, ensuring they are actively involved and receiving the necessary guidance during lessons.
  • Collaborative Classroom Support: Working alongside educators to modify and adapt lesson plans and resources to cater to the varied needs of SEN students.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Applying strategies to enhance student behavior, fostering a constructive and inclusive educational atmosphere.
  • Progress Monitoring: Maintaining comprehensive records of student development and providing consistent feedback to educators, guardians, and other relevant parties.
  • Development of Support Plans: Assisting in the creation and execution of individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students, ensuring their unique requirements are addressed.
  • Effective Communication: Upholding open lines of communication with students, educators, and parents to nurture a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Continuous Professional Growth: Engaging in ongoing training and professional development to remain updated on best practices in SEN education.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary education context.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN methodologies and interventions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to assisting SEN students.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with educators and fellow staff members.
  • Relevant educational qualifications or certifications in special educational needs.
