The Lead Interventional Radiology Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and clinical leadership. Key responsibilities include:

This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care that enhances the patient experience across various clinical environments.

- Demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in interventional radiology and imaging, staying informed on specialty-related issues, and maintaining necessary skills through ongoing training and updates.

- Serving as a source of expertise in interventional radiology and imaging nursing within the department and across the Trust, representing the organization at both local and national levels to ensure the quality and educational initiatives are upheld.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive support for patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and follow-up treatments within imaging. Responsibilities include:

- Integrating with the Trust-wide cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) to identify patients requiring imaging services. Delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients and their families, both in inpatient and outpatient settings, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, aligning with local and national objectives.

- Playing a vital role in the ongoing development and management of cancer imaging pathways, including specialized treatments and diagnostics within Interventional Radiology throughout the organization. The post holder will focus on enhancing patient experiences throughout their healthcare journey.

- Utilizing advanced nursing practices to manage a cohort of patients referred for specialized interventions, care, and support within cancer services. Acting as a professional role model by providing both direct and indirect clinical care, education, and research.

- Exhibiting highly developed and advanced specialist knowledge and skills in cancer care through innovative practices that promote increasing levels of autonomy.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) with a Degree in Nursing
  • Post-registration qualification in specialty
  • Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience in Interventional Radiology and Imaging nursing
  • Recognized teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent management experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or currently pursuing
