Position Overview

Are you eager to acquire and enhance specialized skills in a nurturing and innovative environment where delivering and maintaining exceptional service to patients and their families is paramount?

Do you possess existing leadership or management capabilities, or do you believe you have the potential for outstanding leadership waiting to be nurtured?

Would you like to be part of a prestigious Pediatric Center and join our welcoming, child-focused Interventional Radiology Team?

If your responses to the above questions are affirmative, this role may be the right fit for you.

This position involves working within the Interventional Radiology department, where prior peri-operative experience, such as scrubbing and circulating, is advantageous. However, comprehensive training and support will be provided in our specialized skills and peri-operative care. Our dedicated Practice Education Team is available to assist with your orientation and ongoing professional growth.

This is a dynamic and diverse department comprising three operating suites, conducting a total of 24 sessions weekly. We offer a broad spectrum of procedures, many of which are highly innovative and complex. Our patient demographic spans all specialties within the hospital, catering to ages 0-18, with procedures including central venous access device insertion, biopsies, airway interventions, feeding device insertions, vascular interventions, angiography, and angioplasty. We operate a mix of general anesthesia and non-anesthesia lists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care to children and their families.
  • Serve as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
  • Assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
  • Encourage a progressive approach to the continuous enhancement of patient care through research and evidence-based practices.
  • Assume delegated responsibilities for the department in the absence of the Ward Sister or Charge Nurse.
  • Familiarize yourself with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officer's vision for Compassion In Practice.
  • Contribute to achieving the 'Great Ormond Street Hospital Vision for Nursing.'
