Position Overview
The Lead Nurse in Interventional Radiology plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing exemplary clinical leadership and collaborating with senior nursing staff and quality matrons to uphold high standards of patient care.
- Demonstrating flexibility in clinical settings, serving as a professional role model while delivering both direct and indirect patient care, as well as engaging in teaching and research activities.
- Acting as a specialist practitioner and resource, fostering an effective educational environment through evidence-based practices, and promoting the development of staff at all levels while being mindful of cultural diversity.
- Maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and expertise in interventional radiology and imaging, ensuring compliance with mandatory training and updates.
- Serving as a source of nursing expertise in interventional radiology within the department and representing the Trust at both local and national levels to advocate for quality and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this role is to provide comprehensive support for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures in imaging. Responsibilities include:
- Integrating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, individualized care for patients and their families, both in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement and management of cancer imaging pathways, focusing on specialist diagnostics and treatments within Interventional Radiology.
- Utilizing advanced nursing practices to manage a designated group of patients requiring specialized interventions and support within cancer services.
- Demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in cancer care, leading to increased autonomy and innovative practices.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) with a Degree in Nursing
- Post-registration qualification in specialty
- Relevant specialist training or equivalent experience in Interventional Radiology and Imaging nursing
- Recognized teaching/assessing qualification and management experience

- Master’s Degree in Nursing or progress towards it
