Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will engage in outpatient consultations, virtual appointments, pre-assessments, and multidisciplinary team meetings, in addition to facilitating complex discharges, managing communication, and organizing schedules.

They will serve as a source of expert guidance for fellow healthcare professionals and must possess the capability to deliver health education and promotion.

Detailed Job Description and Key Responsibilities

This position offers a developmental pathway to acquire the competencies required for the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Interventional Radiology department. The successful candidate will be paired with a mentor and will receive support to achieve the necessary skills for this position.

Working within a well-established team, this role demands excellent communication abilities and specialized knowledge in cardiology. Advocating for patients and collaborating within a large multidisciplinary team is crucial.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information, including interactions with distressed families and care for terminally ill patients.
  • Capability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialized care provided to patients and offer relevant advice to patients and their families.
  • Current awareness of clinical and professional issues within the specialty.
  • Demonstrates specialized expertise supported by theoretical knowledge.

Qualifications and Professional Registration

  • BSc/1st degree in a health-related field or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Completion of a post-registration specialist course relevant to the area.
  • Completion of a mentorship course.
  • Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge in the area, supplemented by specialized clinical, managerial training, and continuing professional development.
  • Registered Nurse on the NMC register.

Desirable Criteria

  • Completion of a leadership course.
