Position Overview
In response to the growth of imaging and diagnostic services, the Bronchoscopy and Interventional Radiology team is in search of a dedicated adult-trained band 6 nurse. This role involves assisting with Bronchoscopy and Interventional Radiology procedures, while also providing opportunities to enhance your expertise in various aspects of Interventional Pulmonology, Interventional Radiology, and Recovery.
The Royal Brompton Hospital offers a diverse range of services, including Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology (IR), Bronchoscopy, and Recovery.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist and support the Senior Nurse/Charge Nurse in managing the clinical area, addressing complex situations, and collaborating with the ward sister/charge nurse during emergencies.
- Oversee the professional development and performance of a designated group of staff as delegated by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Direct nursing care for junior nurses, students, and healthcare assistants to uphold high standards of nursing care during your shifts.
- Act as a role model and provide support in the absence of lead bronchoscopy nurses, guiding staff through complex patient care scenarios and initiating appropriate treatments.
- Exhibit a broad range of nursing expertise in specialized care areas.

Detailed Responsibilities
We will customize induction and training to suit the individual candidate, providing support for those with limited experience in caring for patients undergoing bronchoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and post-anesthesia care. New staff will receive comprehensive support through our exceptional induction and mentorship program.

Additional Responsibilities
- Facilitate effective communication within the Ward/Department and across the Trust, sharing best practices and supporting preceptorship and supervision for registered nurses.
- Lead the provision of care in accordance with Trust policies, reflecting current trends in nursing and the NHS.
- Coordinate discharges and transfers, ensuring timely and safe processes.
- Monitor quality standards of care in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Trust policies and procedures at the departmental level.
