Due to the expansion of imaging and diagnostic services at our hospital, we are seeking an experienced adult trained band 6 nurse to join our Bronchoscopy and Interventional Radiology team. The successful candidate will assist with bronchoscopy and interventional radiology procedures, develop their skills in other aspects of interventional pulmonology and radiology, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Main Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Support and deputise for the senior nurse/charge nurse in the clinical management of the clinical area.
- Responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of a group of staff delegated by the senior sister/charge nurse.
- Direct the nursing care of other junior nurses, students, and HCA's to maintain a high standard of excellent nursing care on duty shifts.
- Patient Care
- Lead the provision of care in accordance with trust policies, reflecting current trends and developments in nursing and the NHS.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the department ethos and delivery of a standard approach to excellent nursing care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence-based practice to improve the quality of care and meet patient needs.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Provide support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the ward/department and trust-wide.
- Assist in the programme and provide preceptorship and supervision as required for all registered nurses.
- Maintain and promote effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other wards/departments.
- Policy and Service Development
- Lead on delegated projects relating to local policy development.
- Be actively involved in the development and implementation of trust policies and procedures at department level.
- Resource Management
- Assist the ward manager in the effective and efficient use of resources by adhering to procedures for the use of supplies.
- Be a role model to other staff in adopting a flexible approach to personal duty rostering to ensure the needs of the service are met.
- People Management
- Assist in the management of staff attendance, poor performance, disciplinary, and grievance issues in the clinical area.
- Work alongside the senior sister, modern matron, and management team to provide high-quality clinical leadership to staff within the trust.
- Information Management
- Identify areas where local audit is needed, conduct the audit, and analyse the data with support to ensure CQUIN targets are met.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of audit and research data as required.
- Research and Development
- Participate in the education of all learners within their area.
- Identify and respond to learning needs for the area.
- Develop and deliver or organise local training sessions, mindful of trust values.
