Bronchoscopy IR Recovery Nurse Royal Brompton Hospital

Due to the expansion of imaging and diagnostic services at the Brompton site, the Bronchoscopy and Interventional Radiology team is seeking an adult-trained Band 6 nurse to assist with Bronchoscopy, Interventional Radiology. The clinical role will enable you to develop your skills in other aspects of Interventional Pulmonology, Interventional Radiology, and Recovery.
Main Duties- Support and deputise for the Senior Nurse/Charge Nurse in the clinical management of the clinical area, dealing with complex situations and taking appropriate action in conjunction with the ward sister/charge nurse in emergencies.
- Be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of a group of staff delegated by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Direct the nursing care of other junior nurses, students, and HCA's to maintain a high standard of excellent nursing care on your duty shift.
- Act as a role model and deputise for lead bronchoscopy nurses in their absence, directing and supporting staff dealing with complex situations involved in patient care, initiating treatment, and taking emergency action where appropriate.
- Demonstrate a wide range of nursing expertise in areas of specialist nursing care.

Key Responsibilities- Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other wards/departments, including developing formal presentation skills.
- Adapt communication skills to meet the needs of patients who may have barriers to understanding language.
- Promote the corporate image of the Hospital group to all individuals, groups, and organisations both within the Trust and to the community at large.
- Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, including support staff, to promote a cohesive ward team and the achievement of team objectives.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment for colleagues, patients, and visitors.
- Ensure self-development through own completion of Trust and specialist competencies as per the Trust educational policies, update through reading, and contributing to update policies, procedures, guidelines, and seeking clinical and knowledge advancement.
We are looking for a registered nurse with post-registration respiratory courses (BSc level or equivalent), management/leadership course or equivalent experience, nursing diploma or degree, and teaching and assessing qualification.
Essential criteria include experience in 'taking charge' and deputising for senior nurses, intra-venous (IV) and drug calculation course, ability to support junior staff and lead their development, ability to develop skills required to care for patients through different stages in their pathway, knowledge and experience of research and audit, ability to nurse and manage patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, ability to apply evidence-based research to nursing practice, able to manage and lead difficult situations, excellent numeracy and literacy, communication, and analytical skills for policy writing/development, and able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
