Overview of the Position

Balfour Beatty is excited to present an opportunity for a Land Access Coordinator to join our Power Transmission & Distribution division in the Northern region. This role involves managing third-party permissions and submitting formal requests in alignment with project timelines and team needs.

Responsibilities may encompass coordinating road and footpath closures with local authorities, filing planning applications for access routes from public highways, and submitting requests to relevant trusts.

The role requires effective communication with clients to secure necessary access and gather Grantor information along with any specific requirements. Daily interactions with the Client and Project team will be essential to keep all parties informed about access to Grantor properties and related activities.

You will also be responsible for compiling a weekly schedule of Grantor concerns to update project staff on any access restrictions or requirements. Additionally, you will prepare a photographic and video record of site conditions prior to access.

A record of site conditions will also be maintained upon project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the client’s Wayleave Officer, visiting each site alongside the Engineer and General Foreman to verify land take areas, access points, and discuss delivery methods while addressing damage control and tree or shrub clearance needs. Identify and mark any underground or overhead services using drawings, markers, third-party information, and appropriate ground scanning techniques. Engage with Local Authorities, Highways Agency, and Police where road or footpath closures or restrictions are necessary. Work closely with the Client Wayleave Officer to manage daily issues related to Grantors, access challenges, and modifications to access routes. Establish a procedure to inform the Project Team of any changes to access routes (e.g., using a Red dot system on the F10 board). Implement a system to control access maps, ensuring that only the most current drawings are utilized. Review all method statements and risk assessments pertinent to Wayleave activities. Update the locations board on a daily basis. Ensure that visitors are properly inducted into the project and Balfour Beatty, and conduct Management Safety Representative (MSR) checks on site practices in collaboration with the site engineering team and Health & Safety advisor.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental practices. Strong communication and negotiation skills are crucial for this position. A reasonable understanding of civil engineering and excavation processes. Familiarity with underground and overhead utility systems. Knowledge of traffic management regulations. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Possession of a valid driving license.
