London, Greater London, United Kingdom ROAST Full time

We are seeking a dynamic and personable Planning Account Director to enhance our expanding Client Services division. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn, a drive for excellence, and a curiosity to ask insightful questions. A proactive mindset, eagerness to grow, and a positive demeanor are essential for this position. We are in search of a skilled communicator capable of influencing and fostering positive transformations within the agency and among our clients.

Reporting directly to a Group Account Director, the Account Director will oversee the management, expansion, and retention of multi-channel, high-revenue accounts. This engaging role entails not only establishing robust client relationships and managing revenue for designated accounts but also leveraging your digital expertise and management capabilities with the backing of the delivery team.

With prior experience and the capability to nurture teams internally, a key aspect of this role will involve managing daily client interactions, operations, and prioritizing deliverables to the utmost standard. This includes setting both client and internal expectations in alignment with project scopes while ensuring that business objectives are prioritized when presenting or planning digital opportunities.

The Account Director is expected to lead and undertake critical Client Servicing responsibilities, which encompass, but are not limited to, contractual discussions both internally and externally, ensuring a consistent flow of client revenue in line with their portfolio targets.

While managing your clients, there will be a necessity to enhance skills across the agency's broader business and marketing services. This will be executed alongside your Client Servicing team to ensure standardized development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee your own AD 'pod' and team of Account Managers and Account Executives, establishing clear expectations regarding the quality of service delivered to clients.
  • Support daily operations to maintain high levels of communication with clients.
  • Assess capacity across the client team, assist with prioritization among clients, and manage coverage in collaboration with the Heads of Disciplines.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to ensure campaigns achieve and surpass KPIs.
  • Supervise and approve campaign planning from the briefing stage onward.
  • Ensure integration and consistency of messaging across various digital disciplines at ROAST and the client's other digital agencies.
  • Facilitate the integration of ROAST activities into the broader marketing mix and other agency relationships that clients may have.
  • Manage all financial processes, including internal forecasting and reconciliations.
  • Oversee client fees, hours, contract modifications, renewals, and scope of work opportunities.
  • Ensure client pod retention and growth, maintaining a stable revenue stream across client portfolios and identifying opportunities to engage other departments.
  • Play a pivotal role in preparing and delivering pitch work for new opportunities.
  • Develop marketing materials to promote and expand the agency and our clients.
  • Participate in marketing events to engage prospective clients.

The Candidate

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual who can interact effectively with people on both personal and professional levels and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • A robust background in Media Planning.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the marketing industry.
  • A proven track record of driving growth through advertising campaigns.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital marketing, including an understanding of the broader marketing mix theory.
  • Ability to autonomously identify opportunities, generate ideas, and develop digital strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills, complemented by a mathematical and analytical mindset. Experience in forecasting, pitching, and commercial input is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of English grammar and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A history of strong leadership skills and relationship management, both internally and externally with direct client contacts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to empathize with the stresses and concerns of clients' daily operations.
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • A demonstrated willingness to learn or contribute beyond specialized experience.
  • A successful record of developing teams and colleagues.
