Nights Team Leader - WHSmith

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 3 on 3 off, 6pm till 6am

As a Nights Team Leader at WHSmith, you will be responsible for guiding and motivating your team to deliver outstanding customer service, achieve business goals, and foster a positive work environment that encourages colleague development and success. We aim for our customers and team members to take pride in their experiences with us.

Airport Requirements:
  • 5 years of continuous references are required to obtain an airport pass, including employment or education references without gaps.
  • A Criminal Records Bureau Check will be conducted by WHSmith upon successful application.
  • Photographic identification, such as a passport or UK Driving Licence, is necessary.
Key Responsibilities of a Nights Team Leader:
  • Leading and inspiring your team to achieve high standards and results aligned with the Trading plan.
  • Fostering a culture of learning, support, and recognition by identifying opportunities for personal skill development, product knowledge, and self-awareness.
  • Providing support to colleagues in an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
  • Instilling a sense of pride within the store to ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Recent experience in retail leadership (or a similar field) within a fast-paced environment, with a solid understanding of KPIs such as Average Transaction Value (ATV).
  • Proven ability to lead by example, actively engaging with the team on the shop floor.
  • Flexibility to assist other stores in the vicinity as required.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clear and effective communication.
  • Experience in supporting employee training and development, motivating teams to excel.
