Senior Large Loss Claims Specialist

Role Overview:

As a Senior Large Loss Claims Specialist, you will be an integral part of our Large Loss Team. You will manage a portfolio of high-value motor claims, primarily focusing on significant bodily injury cases. Your role will involve investigating and providing guidance on claims that present complex indemnity challenges across various sectors, including private, commercial, and motor trade. Collaborating within a team, you will serve as a key referral point for technical matters, offering strategic advice and insights on critical developments. You will participate in targeted reviews to promote best practices and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing a caseload of claims in line with company philosophy, established procedures, and service standards. Managing claim costs effectively by negotiating favorable settlements through sound liability and quantum arguments. Ensuring meticulous file management and accurate reserves, along with a robust diary system for timely case reviews. Attending Trials and consultations with Counsel as necessary. Engaging with Reinsurers and adhering to all Large Loss protocols. Complying fully with authority limits. Building and nurturing effective relationships with colleagues and business partners. Mentoring junior team members and supporting their professional development. Performing general claims-related tasks as required. Following established authority limits and seeking necessary approvals for activities exceeding those limits. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, including principles of fair customer treatment. Responding promptly and proactively to all incoming communications. Maintaining good file discipline and accurate reserves, ensuring regular case reviews. Acting as a technical resource within the team and across the organization to manage queries within service level agreements. Taking charge of your own training and development needs. Performing additional claims tasks as necessary. Adhering to company protocols regarding regulatory compliance and customer treatment. Ensuring that all regulatory requirements, including GDPR and Consumer Duty, are met.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of personal injury claims, particularly serious injury cases. Strong technical expertise in motor indemnity issues. Experience managing serious injury claims, including those influenced by Discount Rates and Care Claims. Familiarity with medical disciplines relevant to personal injury investigations. Proven ability in claims negotiation, liability assessment, and cost evaluation. Awareness of current and applicable Case Law. Commitment to compliance with all regulatory requirements. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively. Effective communicator with the capability to coach colleagues on technical matters. Willingness to pursue personal development and acquire new skills. Flexibility to work proactively in a dynamic claims environment. Solid understanding of market trends and commercial awareness.
