Senior Large Loss Claims Specialist

Role Overview:

As a Senior Large Loss Claims Specialist, you will be an integral part of our dedicated Large Loss Team. You will manage a portfolio of high-value motor claims, primarily focusing on significant bodily injury cases. Your role will involve investigating and providing guidance on claims that present complex indemnity challenges across various sectors, including private, commercial, and motor trade. Collaborating within a team, you will serve as a key point of reference for technical matters, offering strategic advice and insights on critical developments. You will participate in targeted reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing a caseload of claims in line with company philosophy, established claims handling protocols, and service standards. Managing claim expenses by securing the most cost-effective settlements through effective liability and quantum arguments, alongside proficient negotiation skills. Ensuring meticulous file management and accurate reserve assessments, coupled with a robust diary system for regular case reviews, aligned with service level agreements. Attending trials and meetings with legal counsel as necessary. Engaging with reinsurers and adhering to all relevant Large Loss procedures. Complying fully with authority limits. Cultivating and sustaining effective relationships with colleagues and business partners. Mentoring junior team members and supporting their professional development. Performing general claims-related tasks as required. Following established personal authority limits and seeking approval from management for activities that exceed these limits. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations, including principles of fair customer treatment. Responding promptly and proactively to incoming communications via telephone, email, and written correspondence. Maintaining organized file management and accurate reserves, ensuring regular case reviews. Acting as a technical resource within the team and across the organization to manage technical inquiries and referrals within service level agreements. Proactively managing your own training and development needs. Performing general claims-related tasks as required. Adhering to company protocols regarding compliance and fair customer treatment where applicable. Ensuring that all regulatory requirements, including GDPR and other relevant guidelines, are met.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

Comprehensive and current understanding of personal injury claims, with significant experience in serious injury cases. Strong technical expertise in motor indemnity matters. Proven experience in managing serious injury claims, including those influenced by Discount Rates, Care Claims, and other relevant factors. Solid knowledge of medical fields pertinent to investigating personal injury claims of varying severity. Demonstrated ability in claims negotiation, liability assessment, and cost evaluation. Familiarity with current and relevant case law. Commitment to compliance with all regulatory standards, including fair treatment of customers. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Capability to prioritize and manage your workload effectively. Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and support colleagues on technical issues. Willingness to pursue personal growth and skill development. Flexibility to work proactively in a dynamic claims environment. In-depth market knowledge. Strong commercial awareness.
