Ashton Recruitment is seeking a dedicated HR Assistant to support our Public Sector client.

Position: HR Assistant

Location: Belfast

Duration: Temporary

Compensation: £14.44 per hour

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

The successful candidate will report to the Business Support Officer (HR/Administration) and will play a crucial role in managing various administrative and human resource functions to meet departmental objectives. Responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations, training, and developing assigned personnel. Additionally, the HR Assistant will collaborate with the Business Support Officer(s) to enhance human resources and administrative systems, facilitating organizational change and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise daily activities of support staff, ensuring task allocation, output quality, and adherence to deadlines.
  2. Compile and analyze performance metrics related to human resources, quality assurance, and customer service for reporting purposes.
  3. Coordinate and monitor all HR procedures, record-keeping, and reporting activities.
  4. Provide relevant information and guidance to the Business Support Officer (HR/Administration) and other departmental personnel on various HR matters, including absence management, employee relations, payroll, and training initiatives.
  5. Assist in designing training programs and personal development plans for the HR Unit.
  6. Maintain an updated system for workforce statistics within the department.
  7. Facilitate recruitment processes, including the onboarding of agency staff.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate, through personal examples on the application form, at least one year of relevant human resources experience in the following areas:

  • Providing information, advice, and guidance to senior and operational managers on HR policies and processes, such as time and attendance, recruitment, employee relations, and data requests;
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of HR and administrative systems;
  • Directly supervising assigned staff.
