Ashton Recruitment is seeking a dedicated HR Assistant to support our client in the Public Sector.

Position: HR Assistant

Location: Belfast

Duration: Temporary

Rate of Pay: £14.44 per hour

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

The successful candidate will report to the Business Support Officer (HR/Administration) and will play a crucial role in facilitating all administrative and human resource functions within the department. This role is essential in ensuring that the operational needs of the department are effectively met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily management of support staff within the designated area, ensuring work is allocated appropriately and deadlines are met.
  2. Compile and assess service performance metrics and compliance data related to human resources, quality, and customer service standards for reporting purposes.
  3. Coordinate and monitor all procedures, record-keeping, and reporting activities pertaining to human resources.
  4. Provide pertinent information and guidance to the Business Support Officer (HR/Administration) and other departmental personnel on various HR matters, including absence management, employee relations, payroll, attendance tracking, and training initiatives.
  5. Collaborate with the Business Support Officer (HR/Administration) to design and implement training plans and personal development strategies for the HR Unit.
  6. Establish and maintain a comprehensive system for up-to-date workforce statistics for the City and Neighbourhood Services Department.
  7. Facilitate recruitment processes, including the onboarding of agency personnel and the induction of new staff.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate, through personal examples on the application form, at least one year of relevant human resources experience in the following areas:

  • Providing information, advice, and guidance to senior and operational managers on various HR policies and processes, such as attendance management, recruitment, employee relations, and compliance requests;
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of HR and administrative systems and processes;
  • Directly supervising assigned staff.
