About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Nurse to join our team as a Professional Strategies Lead. This is a permanent role in the nursing directorate, providing senior leadership within the CNO Policy and Strategy Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and professional advice and leadership to support and inform evidence-based policy and strategy development and implementation across various sectors and systems.
  • Support the delivery of specific strategic professional programs to achieve the CNO vision for the profession.
  • Effectively influence strategic approaches, strategy, and policy across NHSE, ensuring the nursing voice is reflected in decision-making and provides value and insight into NHSE policy.
  • Operate as a senior nurse lead within the organization, managing relationships with key stakeholders and leading key projects that support the acceleration of the CNO Excellence program.
  • Champion evidence-based change management, continuous improvement processes, innovation, and research within all PSU activities.
  • Contribute to programs of work that build capability and capacity of the profession within policy and strategy, ensuring effective resources and support are available to nursing teams across health and care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in a specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven leadership experience at senior nurse level.

Skills, Capabilities, and Attributes

  • Able to interpret clinical information, research, and evidence bases as well as national policy and guidance to support transformational programs.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively between strategic and operational activities, seeking opportunities to innovate and highlighting areas of challenge.
