Lead Engineering Strategist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lead Engineering Strategist to guide a diverse team of engineers in delivering cutting-edge and impactful engineering solutions across our extensive project portfolio. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and dependable electricity supply, contributing significantly to the development of a sustainable energy network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the availability of adequate engineering resources to support a substantial project portfolio, including both in-house staff and external consultants as necessary.
  • Foster the professional growth and performance of a talented engineering team, while also participating in the recruitment of new members to enhance team capabilities.
  • Integrate sound engineering principles and innovative practices into project designs to ensure cost-effectiveness for consumers.
  • Guarantee that constructed assets meet the operational requirements and overall network standards.
  • Promote and oversee safety in design throughout the project portfolio, with a strong emphasis on compliance with relevant regulations and effective execution of Principal Designer and Designer roles under CDM regulations.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally as a Chartered Engineer, along with extensive experience in a comparable role.
  • Comprehensive technical and commercial understanding of the Electrical Transmission sector or similar industries.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on prioritization and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information in an accessible manner and effectively negotiating to support the overall project portfolio.
