Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Administrative Assistant to become a vital part of our team at Grove Medical Practice. This role will primarily focus on managing GP and clinical administrative tasks, including the processing of patient referrals and communications initiated by the General Practitioners and Nursing Team. You will play a crucial role in coordinating with hospitals, specialists, and other healthcare providers to facilitate timely appointments and necessary investigations, while also assisting patients with their inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a proficient audio and copy typing service for the healthcare professionals, ensuring that all documentation such as letters, reports, and patient referrals are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Manage patient referrals through the NHS eReferral system, ensuring the correct specialty and clinic are selected.
  • Assist in the timely processing of all two-week wait referrals, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of local NHS services, including available clinics and specialties, as well as referral criteria and necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare services to expedite patient referrals and appointments, and follow up on patient results and discharge letters.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage admissions as required.
