Chesterfield, Derbyshire, United Kingdom Protocol Education Full time

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young individuals? Do you possess the confidence to tackle new challenges? This opportunity may be ideal for you.

About the Institution:

Located in Chesterfield, this specialized residential institution serves children aged 11-16 years who face significant social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH). The majority of the students have experienced behavioral issues and related disorders that have hindered their success in mainstream educational settings, often resulting in exclusions. Every staff member is dedicated to enhancing student outcomes and facilitating their reintegration into traditional education.

About the Position:

As a behavioral support specialist, your role will involve assisting students with SEMH needs who may struggle to engage in educational activities. This includes establishing rapport with students and fostering positive relationships that encourage them to manage their behavior effectively. You will collaborate within a small team responsible for the safety and wellbeing of 15-25 students, depending on the time of year. Initially, this position will be temporary, with the potential for a permanent contract following a successful transition period.

What We Seek:

Ideal candidates will have prior experience as a teaching assistant or support worker, or a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of young people. You should be outgoing and confident in your ability to address behavioral challenges and re-engage students in their education.

While not mandatory, it is preferred that applicants hold a Team Teach qualification and have experience working with young individuals who have SEMH needs. A valid driver's license is also required, as you may need to conduct home visits for student welfare checks.

What Protocol Education Offers:

  • A dedicated consultant who understands the significance of finding the right fit for you, ensuring you maximize your employment experience.
  • Access to over 50 CPD courses at Diploma and Certificate levels, designed to enhance your knowledge and support your career advancement.
  • Flexible working arrangements - whether you seek full-time or part-time opportunities, we can accommodate your needs. We offer daily, long-term, or even permanent positions.
  • Competitive compensation rates.
