DJJ prioritizes public safety through effective interventions that enhance the lives of young individuals, thereby strengthening families and communities across the state.

About the Role:
In this position, the selected candidate will apply best practices in the oversight, security, and rehabilitation of juveniles within a correctional environment, fostering a safe atmosphere that promotes personal growth and transformation. The incumbent will manage the daily execution and facilitation of the Facility-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (FW-PBIS) initiative, which includes resident rewards and access to various activities. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the operations of the facility's incentive room and coordinating a range of facility-wide events to support the FW-PBIS framework.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and securing the Incentive Unit for eligible residents' use, adhering to the incentive area operations checklist, which encompasses opening and closing procedures, supervising residents, and reviewing behavioral expectations.
- Collecting and analyzing data to ensure security and safety by providing direct supervision to residents participating in incentive activities and programs.
- Documenting resident behavior in accordance with established protocols, maintaining daily records and reports without fail, particularly concerning incidents involving security breaches or life-threatening situations.
- Intervening in behavioral crises to ensure safety, employing de-escalation strategies and techniques.

A solid understanding of security principles, treatment methodologies, and service management in a secure residential context is essential. Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions is required. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in leading group sessions with adolescents in direct care environments (e.g., group homes, detention centers) is advantageous. Familiarity with evidence-based strategies to engage residents and promote desired behaviors is preferred. A background in youth development, criminal justice, or social sciences, including a degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field, is desirable. Experience with PBIS, Motivational Interviewing, EPICS, Anger Replacement Training, basic behavior management, mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness training is also beneficial.
