Title: Lead Clinical Research Nurse Manager

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Trust's Research & Development (R&D) senior management team, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive academic and commercial research portfolio, encompassing early phase and advanced therapy trials through to phase III.
  • Implementing innovative and ambitious initiatives as part of the Velindre Futures program for R&D and Transforming Cancer Services.
  • Formulating and executing the Trust's Nursing Strategy to ensure optimal care for patients and service users.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Master's level education or willingness to pursue a MSc.
  • First-level nursing degree and current nursing registration.
  • Extensive experience in oncology, including managing and coordinating clinical research.
  • Familiarity with cancer research and services within NHS organizations.
  • Understanding of cancer-related medical and research terminology.
  • Specific knowledge relevant to cancer research.
  • Ability to lead and initiate transformative change.

Desirable

  • MSc with an empirical dissertation component.
  • Management qualification or substantial relevant experience.
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships with research, academic, and healthcare professionals.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant management experience in a senior NHS role, including staff oversight.
  • Extensive background in research management within healthcare settings.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in building partnerships across organizations.
  • Proven leadership experience, particularly in organizational change.
  • Project management qualification or substantial experience managing complex projects.
  • Experience in leading research teams and inspiring collaboration towards common goals.
  • Strong understanding of Research Governance and relevant legislative frameworks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS clinical environment.
  • Flexible approach to work, including problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • In-depth knowledge of national systems and structures supporting clinical research in the NHS.

Desirable

  • Experience conducting independent research.
  • Experience in an academic setting with an understanding of academic research drivers.
  • Familiarity with the national cancer research landscape and key research organizations.
  • Experience preparing reports for presentation to clinicians, senior NHS staff, and government entities.
