This position is a fixed-term role for two years to fulfill service requirements.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is dedicated to advancing health and social care research that positively influences the wellbeing of the community. Established in 2015, our Support and Delivery infrastructure aims to enhance efficiency and global competitiveness in research. This includes a centralized Support Centre and local R&D services through NHS R&D Departments.

The NHS R&D Departments, led by a Director, provide essential local research support services and facilitate the hosting of studies within each Health Board. A key component of this service is the NHS research delivery team, which comprises Research Nurses, Clinical Studies Officers, Research Officers, and Administrators, all committed to delivering high-quality health and social care studies. The Clinical Research Nurse will play a vital role within these NHS research delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity exists within the Cardiff and Vale University R&D for a Research Nurse to join the Medicine research delivery team.

We are looking for a Band 5 Registered Nurse with clinical experience and a keen interest in research. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and managing care pathways for patients involved in clinical trials. This includes tasks such as recruiting participants, providing education, monitoring trial patients, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.

The position will be based at a prominent hospital and will focus on supporting a diverse portfolio of studies.

Proficiency in Welsh is desirable for this role, and applications are welcome from both Welsh and English speakers.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

  • Familiarity with clinical and/or research terminology

Experience

  • Proven experience with patient/client interactions and multidisciplinary teams
  • Clinical experience within the NHS
