Position Overview

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in clinical research, exhibit strong leadership capabilities, and hold a relevant nursing qualification along with registration from the appropriate regulatory authority.

The successful individual will oversee clinical management, supervise late-phase studies, and assist in the feasibility and initiation of clinical trials in partnership with Research and Development. Key responsibilities include leading the Clinical Trials delivery unit and spearheading educational and assessment initiatives for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing staff management, including performance evaluations, workload distribution, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Facilitating patient recruitment and managing the Late Phase study portfolio.
  • Assisting the Senior Research Nurse Manager with the daily operations of the late-phase portfolio.
  • Maintaining documentation to support research activities.
  • Encouraging and facilitating departmental training and education.
  • Implementing initiatives for service enhancement.
  • Ensuring adherence to quality standards within the service delivery.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is considered beneficial for this position, and candidates fluent in Welsh and/or English are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Expertise

Essential

  • 1st level registered nurse or equivalent healthcare professional.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Working knowledge of research applications within the NHS framework.

Desirable

  • Clinical Research Qualification.
  • Teaching qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Specialist nursing experience.
  • Experience in patient care within a research context.

Desirable

  • Experience in patient care within the oncology setting.
  • Clinical skills in administering innovative Clinical Trials therapies.
