Position Overview

This role is a fixed-term opportunity designed to fulfill the operational needs of the service.

The NHS Research and Delivery (R&D) Departments, under the leadership of a R&D Director, offer essential services for research facilitation and support the management of studies within the University Health Board (UHB). This includes a dedicated NHS research delivery team comprising Research Midwives, Research Nurses, Clinical Studies Officers, Research Officers, and Administrators, all committed to enhancing the quality of health and social care research.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within Cardiff and Vale University R&D for a fixed-term Clinical Trials Coordinator to join the research delivery team, aiding in the advancement of research initiatives across the University Health Board. We are looking for a band 4 coordinator who can adapt to the needs of the service and contribute effectively to the administration of various studies within the Research Team, demonstrating a strong interest in research. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the coordination, collection, and documentation of precise data.

The role involves collaboration with a large team of professionals within the Research Team, engaging in high-quality studies throughout the health board. Informal discussions about the role are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across multiple disease areas.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and data management support for all facets of trial organization as an integral member of the network team.
  • Contribute to the effective setup and execution of research within the UHB, aligning with the performance metrics established for the organization.

Language Proficiency

The ability to communicate in Welsh is preferred for this position; applications from both Welsh and English speakers are welcomed.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in healthcare.
  • Proven further education in IT.

Desirable

  • Degree in a health-related field.
  • GCP certification.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a research, NHS, or hospital setting.
  • Previous experience in an administrative capacity.

  • Familiarity with patient information systems.
  • Experience working in a clinical trial unit.
