We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious professional eager to embrace a new challenge within a well-established team that is at the forefront of advanced clinical practice. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and leadership abilities, along with the capacity to collaborate with a diverse array of professional groups and demonstrate a high level of professional autonomy (post-training). The team works closely with the medical staff to support the consultant body, surgical trainees, and ultimately enhance patient care within the Urology specialty.

The successful candidate, who must already hold a position as a Urology Surgical Nurse Practitioner, will be expected to enroll in the Advanced Clinical Practice MSc program.

Key Responsibilities

While the majority of duties are performed during standard working hours, the team participates in a shared rota that includes weekend and occasional night shifts once fully qualified.

Upon completion of these training sessions, participants will have the opportunity to explore further leadership and improvement training options. We also offer a variety of additional in-house and externally provided courses and short programs through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

Qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional knowledge obtained through a qualification that allows registration with a healthcare regulatory body.
  • Demonstrated management skills acquired through both theoretical and practical experience.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing staff along with leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the Trust's ACP strategy and policies, as well as an understanding of advanced practice.
  • Experience in leading research initiatives and implementing service improvements.
  • Professional registration with NMC/HCPC.
  • A completed portfolio of professional development that evidences an advanced level of clinical practice in accordance with the HEE framework for ACP.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification.
  • A portfolio demonstrating ongoing professional development and assessments.
  • Completion of a formal research module at level 7 (master's level).
  • Commitment to pursuing and completing any relevant credentialing routes applicable to the clinical area.
  • Extensive clinical experience in the specialty of Urology.
  • Evidence of leading service improvements and managing change.
  • Support for junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals in developing their own scope of practice.
  • Experience in team leadership.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Additional teaching qualifications or experience.
  • Participation in audit, research, or service evaluation.
  • Experience as a principal investigator.
  • ILS/ALS provider qualifications (as appropriate to the role or clinical setting).
  • Participation in the leadership and development improvement program.
  • Experience in a role that directly contributes to an ACP position, such as a trainee ACP.
  • Experience in one of the four pillars of ACP at an advanced level.
  • Experience as a principal investigator in research.

Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Urology

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional knowledge obtained through a qualification that allows registration with a healthcare regulatory body.

  • Professional registration with NMC/HCPC.
  • A portfolio demonstrating ongoing professional development.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (or the ability to undertake this qualification).
  • Commitment to pursuing and completing any relevant credentialing routes applicable to the clinical area.
  • Ability and determination to successfully complete the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and achieve full ACP MSc qualification.
  • Extensive clinical experience in the specialty of Urology.
  • Evidence of involvement in change management and service improvement.
  • Ability to refer to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of audit and research, along with evidence of application.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Participation in audit, research, or service evaluation.
  • ILS/ALS provider qualifications (as appropriate to the role or clinical setting).
  • Participation in the leadership and development improvement program.
  • Advanced physical assessment skills (level 7 master's).
  • Experience in team leadership.
