Penguin Random House US is on the lookout for a Sales Executive based in the UK to represent our esteemed lists to UK accounts and distributors. Reporting directly to the Associate Sales Director for the UK & the Commonwealth, this role is pivotal in crafting and executing effective sales strategies while establishing sales priorities.

This position will primarily operate from a home office in the UK, with occasional travel within the London area and the South East, alongside an annual trip to New York City.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with the Sales Associate to ensure a seamless flow of title information to our UK distributors, including local release dates, pricing, and formats.
  • Regularly presenting new titles to distributor sales teams through virtual meetings and in-person sessions.
  • Partnering with Penguin Random House (Client) Publisher Services and various client publishers, such as DC Comics, Disney, Marvel, MIT Press, and Seven Seas, to enhance title performance within the UK market.
  • Engaging with distributors to secure promotional opportunities.
  • Coordinating with Penguin Random House US Sub-rights Managers regarding UK title rights.
  • Identifying and initiating plans to capture new sales opportunities.
  • Working alongside the UK-based Marketing and Publicity Manager to ensure that books are accessible for publicity, marketing outreach, and author events.
  • Maintaining a consistent schedule of communication with key business partners, including meetings in and around London.
  • Providing weekly reports to the Associate Sales Director on sales performance and objectives.
  • Participating in conferences, book fairs, launches, and other relevant events as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in book publishing sales is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK book trade is required.
  • Familiarity with non-trade/special markets, emerging trends, and retail merchandising is advantageous.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong analytical capabilities are essential.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to tackle complex challenges as part of a team.
  • Highly organized, with the capacity to self-initiate and prioritize a demanding workload.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 2-3 days per month within the London area and once a year to New York City.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is £40,000 - £45,000. All roles are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, contingent on company performance.
