Penguin Random House UK Sales Manager Job Description

Penguin Random House is seeking a highly skilled Sales Manager to represent our US lists in the UK market. As a key member of our UK sales team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to drive growth and revenue in the UK trade.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key UK distributors and retailers, working closely with our New York office and UK-based Associate Sales Director and Marketing Manager to provide relevant sales and market information.
  2. Present new titles to our distributors' sales teams on a regular basis via MS Teams and in person, highlighting their unique selling points and market potential.
  3. Collaborate with Penguin Random House (Client) Publisher Services and a range of client publishers to maximize title performance in the UK trade.
  4. Work with our distributors to secure retail promotions and negotiate favorable terms.
  5. Identify and pursue new sales opportunities, leveraging your knowledge of the UK market and our product offerings.
  6. Work closely with the UK-based Marketing and Publicity Manager to ensure books are available to support publicity and marketing outreach as well as author events.
  7. Provide regular sales performance reports to the Associate Sales Director, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of book publishing sales experience.
  • Knowledge of non-trade/special markets, evolving trends, and retail merchandising.
  • Ability to travel on average 2-3 days per month to the London area by train and to travel via plane once per year to New York City.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
