Job Title: Sales Manager

Penguin Random House US is seeking a highly skilled Sales Manager to represent their US lists to UK accounts and distributors. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, setting sales priorities, and managing business relationships with key UK distributors and retailers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with UK distributors and retailers, working closely with the New York office and UK-based Associate Sales Director and Marketing Manager.
  • Present new titles to distributors' sales teams on a regular basis via MS Teams and in person.
  • Collaborate with Penguin Random House (Client) Publisher Services and client publishers to maximize title performance in the UK trade.
  • Work with distributors to secure retail promotions and maintain a timely flow of title information.
  • Liaise with Sub-rights Managers on UK title rights and seek out new sales opportunities.
  • Work with the UK-based Marketing and Publicity Manager to ensure books are available to support publicity and marketing outreach.
  • Maintain regular contact with key business partners, including meetings in and around London.
  • Report weekly to the Associate Sales Director on sales performance and goals.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of book publishing sales experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK book trade.
  • Knowledge of non-trade/special markets, evolving trends, and retail merchandising preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to work on complex problems as part of a team.
  • Highly organized with the ability to self-start and prioritize a heavy workload.
  • Ability to travel on average 2-3 days per month to the London area and annually to New York City.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary Range:

£40,000- £45,000 per annum, with annual profit award or bonus subject to Company results.
