About the Role

Penguin Random House LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales and Marketing Manager to join our team in the UK. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to drive business growth and revenue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key UK distributors and retailers, working closely with our New York office and UK-based sales and marketing teams to provide relevant sales and market information.
  • Present new titles to our distributors' sales teams on a regular basis via digital platforms and in-person meetings.
  • Collaborate with Penguin Random House (Client) Publisher Services and a range of client publishers to maximize title performance in the UK trade.
  • Work with our distributors to secure retail promotions and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Liaise with Penguin Random House US Sub-rights Managers on UK title rights and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Seek out and initiate plans to secure new sales opportunities and expand our market share.
  • Work closely with the UK-based Marketing and Publicity Manager to ensure books are available to support publicity and marketing outreach as well as author events.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of contact with key business partners, including meetings in and around London.
  • Report weekly to the Associate Sales Director on sales performance and goals.
  • Attend conferences, book fairs, book launches, and other industry events as necessary.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of book publishing sales experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK book trade and non-trade/special markets.
  • Knowledge of evolving trends and retail merchandising is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work on complex problems as part of a team.
  • Highly organized with the ability to self-start and prioritize a heavy workload.
  • Ability to travel on average 2-3 days per month to the London area and once per year to New York City.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
What We Offer
