Photonics Solutions Sales Engineer

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, including lead assessment and solution formulation across various sectors of the photonics market. This role involves regular engagement with clients regarding specifications, pricing, product availability, and services, as well as contract discussions and the coordination of design and manufacturing efforts for tailored solutions.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Hybrid work options available)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to our global clientele, focusing on pre-sales inquiries from both research and industrial sectors.
  • Utilize industry knowledge and robust customer relationships to uncover further business prospects as the needs of existing clients evolve.
  • Identify new markets and industries for Thorlabs to engage with.
  • Oversee the sales pipeline within the CRM system, from initial qualification through to closing.
  • Relay market insights to the R&D and Marketing Communication teams.
  • Conduct equipment demonstrations and engage with customers at industry conferences and trade shows.
  • When necessary, accompany the external sales team on customer visits to provide technical insights.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position, allowing work from our state-of-the-art facility as well as remote work options. Our facility is conveniently located near major transport links.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with optical systems, laboratory settings, or photonics equipment is essential.
  • A degree in Physics, Optics, Chemistry, or Engineering is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Comfortable presenting concepts to larger audiences.
