Job Overview

You will collaborate with a dedicated team of Pharmacists, Technicians, and Assistants, all committed to achieving excellence in our operations. Our collaborative approach within a Multi-Disciplinary Team ensures that we consistently provide outstanding care to our patients.

This is a pivotal moment to engage with the Aseptic Department, which is focused on delivering high-quality services to both patients and staff. Our new state-of-the-art facility enhances our ability to translate leading research into significant advancements in treatment and care for cancer patients.

In the coming years, we have plans to establish a new aseptic facility to further enhance our services.

We have recently implemented a digital health record system aimed at optimizing our pharmacy aseptic services.

Main Responsibilities

You will receive comprehensive training and accreditation in all processes relevant to the Band 4 role, including assembly, checking, compounding, and volume verification.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in the handling and compounding of cytotoxic medications.

2. Gain experience in managing clinical trials conducted at the Trust and complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.

3. Develop expertise in maintaining Aseptic facilities in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

4. Assist in ensuring effective stock control of medications, IV fluids, and containers, while adhering to proper storage and rotation protocols. You will be trained in stock ordering, distribution, and control, including daily stock assessments.

5. Become proficient and accredited in all processes pertinent to the Band 4 role, including worksheets, dispensing, assembly, and checking.

Education and Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Completion of Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent experience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of a post-qualification course in aseptic preparation and dispensing of medications/GMP/QA or equivalent.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or progress towards it.

  • Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and knowledge of JAC.
