You will collaborate with a dedicated team of Pharmacists, Technicians, and Assistants, all focused on achieving excellence in our operations. Our approach is rooted in teamwork as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team, ensuring that we consistently provide outstanding care to our patients.
This is a transformative period for our Aseptic Department, which is centered on delivering high-quality services to both patients and staff. The recent opening of a cutting-edge treatment and research facility marks a significant advancement in our mission to translate leading research into effective treatment solutions for cancer patients.
In the near future, we are planning to enhance our aseptic capabilities with the construction of a new facility.
Our hospital has recently implemented an advanced digital health record system, and we aim to leverage its full potential to support our pharmacy aseptic services effectively.
Key Responsibilities
You will receive comprehensive training and accreditation in all relevant processes aligned with the Band 4 role, including:
- Assembly and assembly checking
- Compounding and volume verification
- First check procedures
Detailed Responsibilities
1. Acquire extensive knowledge and skills in the handling and compounding of cytotoxic medications.
2. Gain practical experience in managing clinical trials conducted at the Trust and complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
3. Develop expertise in maintaining aseptic facilities in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
4. Support effective stock management of medications, IV fluids, and other supplies, ensuring proper storage and rotation. You will be trained in stock ordering, distribution, and control, including conducting daily stock assessments.
5. Achieve training and accreditation in all processes relevant to the Band 4 role, including worksheets and JAC dispensing.
Candidate Profile
Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English and Mathematics or equivalent.
- Qualification as a Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent experience.
Desirable Criteria
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Completion of a post-qualification course in aseptic preparation and dispensing of medications/GMP/QA or equivalent.
- Progress towards an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
Experience and Skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in training or coaching other staff members.
- Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and knowledge of JAC.
