Senior Clinical Biochemistry Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Clinical Biochemistry Specialist to oversee the Biochemistry services within our esteemed organization. This role encompasses leadership responsibilities and will involve collaboration with a team of professionals to ensure the highest standards of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Biochemistry service, ensuring comprehensive scientific and clinical advisory support within Blood Sciences.
- Engage in a variety of scientific and managerial tasks aimed at enhancing operational practices in the laboratory.
- Act as the primary clinical authority for the Biochemistry service, fostering effective communication with medical and scientific staff.
- Provide expert guidance on the interpretation of biochemistry tests, including advising on test selection and patient preparation.
- Be accountable for the clinical validation of patient reports, offering interpretive insights and coordinating with other laboratories as necessary.
- Maintain close working relationships with all levels of staff to facilitate efficient service delivery.
- Work autonomously while also collaborating with a small team to uphold service excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a relevant first or second class honours degree.
- Completion of a recognized training program in clinical biochemistry.
- Master's degree in Clinical Biochemistry or a related field.
- Current HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- Successful completion of Part 1 Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) examination.
- Demonstrated knowledge of routine and specialized analytical methods, along with quality assurance practices.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and training.
