The pharmacy team plays a crucial role in the delivery of comprehensive care, including NHS and private services, for patients undergoing chemotherapy, clinical trials, and transplants.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a vital member of the haemato-oncology pharmacy team, delivering expert pharmaceutical services to patients and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
- Oversee pharmaceutical matters related to medication management and clinical trials within the haemato-oncology unit, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulations.
- Lead educational initiatives and clinical governance related to haemato-oncology within the pharmacy department.
- Establish a framework for the safe, efficient, and economical use of medications within the haemato-oncology unit through the development of procedures, protocols, and drug usage guidelines.

Job Duties
- Deliver expert pharmaceutical services to the haemato-oncology unit, ensuring alignment with both national and international standards for service development.
- Critically assess and interpret research on new medications relevant to the specialty, collaborating with medical staff to prepare evaluations for the clinical unit.
- Develop, implement, and audit medication protocols and treatment guidelines, ensuring compliance with best practices and legislative requirements.
- Assist in leading antifungal medication stewardship, particularly for adult haemato-oncology patients, in collaboration with relevant specialists.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- MSc or Diploma in Pharmacy Practice.
- Significant experience in NHS hospital pharmacy.
- Experience in haemato-oncology pharmacy.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical setting.
Desirable:
- Experience in delivering training to multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with clinical trials.
- Pharmacy experience in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
- Independent prescribing qualification.
