Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join our Clinical Trials team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical trials dispensary, providing excellent customer service to patients and their carers, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Dispense clinical trials prescriptions promptly and accurately, adhering to trial protocols, standard operating procedures, and current legislation.
  • Ensure the trials service runs smoothly, including stock control, accurate record keeping, and drug accountability.
  • Counsel patients on their trial medication and provide clerical support to the Senior Technicians and other team members.
  • Coordinate the receipt, storage, and supply of clinical trial medication within the pharmacy.
Requirements
  • GCSE level (Grade A-C in English and Maths) or Numeracy and Literacy functional skills level 2 (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or relevant GPhC accredited Training Programme equivalent to Level 2.
  • Experience of working in pharmacy, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, ordering and stock management, and working with other healthcare professionals.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of working in NHS or other healthcare settings.
  • Clinical trials experience.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
