Position Overview

We are in search of a qualified and seasoned Band 6 Assistant Lead Nurse to become a vital part of our esteemed clinical care team.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead a small group of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, contributing to a dynamic team focused on symptom management, palliative care, and planned respite for families. Our facility provides individualized nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents. As a member of the care team, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group that includes music therapists, complementary therapists, and our non-medical workforce team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

As an Assistant Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing a small team and identifying training and development needs through performance evaluations.
  • Providing clinical leadership on a shift-by-shift basis and acting as Shift Coordinator when necessary, ensuring effective decision-making and staff management.

Role Expectations

In this exciting position, you will provide clinical support to infants, children, and young individuals receiving end-of-life care in their homes, offering respite and assistance to their families.

Some of the primary duties include:

  • Managing your own caseload across the designated region.
  • Conducting assessments and reviews of clinical care while being attentive to evolving physical and emotional needs.
  • Contributing to leadership, development, training, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Overseeing day-to-day management of the team, including performance evaluations and identifying training opportunities.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Nurse to prioritize care arrangements and ensure effective communication with families.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Qualified RSCN (Child Branch)/RNLD.
  • Significant post-registration experience with children and young people.
  • Experience as a Band 6 Nurse.
  • Post-registration experience in children's palliative or end-of-life care.
  • Experience in employee management.
  • A demonstrated high standard of clinical care.
