Position Overview

The Clinical Team Manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding a diverse group of clinicians and therapeutic professionals in delivering exceptional, low-intensity psychological support. The teams under this role may encompass various practitioners, including Children's Wellbeing Practitioners, Counsellors, CBT Therapists, and Play Therapists.

Your expertise in clinical practice and management will be pivotal in nurturing and leading our multifaceted clinical teams, which consist of trainees, early-career professionals, developing practitioners, and seasoned clinicians. These competencies will ensure the provision of a responsive and high-quality service. Collaboration with colleagues and external partners is essential, as you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the service while providing effective leadership and management of clinical personnel and resources.

We seek an individual who is organized, innovative, and possesses a strong sense of enthusiasm and motivation, thriving in a team environment. Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are crucial.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the brief intervention service for children and young people (typically aged 4-13) experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, including caseload allocation and monitoring.
  2. Maintain a small clinical caseload.
  3. Supervise and support therapeutic practitioners, ensuring that professional clinical supervision is arranged in line with organizational policies and ethical frameworks.
  4. Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (training provided) to offer safeguarding guidance and support to practitioners, documenting and escalating issues as necessary.
  5. Assist the Assistant Director (Mental Health) in the effective management of clinical teams, including the utilization of resources and facilities.
  6. Ensure high-quality standards and processes in service delivery, maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for stakeholders in collaboration with the operational team.
  7. Work collaboratively with other service elements to achieve effective co-working.
  8. Participate actively in clinical, governance, and operational meetings, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon decisions.
  9. Provide consultation to other professionals as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A qualification in a relevant therapeutic modality or a therapy at Diploma level or higher accredited by a recognized professional body.
  • Membership in an appropriate professional organization.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a complex caseload and 2-4 years of therapeutic work within a child and young person mental health setting.
  • Experience leading and supervising a multidisciplinary team.
