Job Summary

The Market Surgery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for leading and supervising our nursing staff, providing safe and effective care to our patients, and contributing to the development of our nursing services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the nursing team, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and that the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement new clinical services and initiatives, in collaboration with the General Practitioners and practice manager.
  • Provide clinical care for practice patients, including chronic disease management, wound care, and health promotion.
  • Implement new clinical services after agreement by the practice, and lead on the development of the nursing team.
  • Act as the practice lead for better working with other nursing services providing care for our patients.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities
  • Attend practice/primary care meetings, updating the partners and management with relevant information.
  • Have regular meetings with the nursing team to understand any clinical or organizational problems.
  • Work closely with the practice manager to manage staff within the nursing team.
  • Participate in the recruitment of new staff when the need arises, and ensure that they are inducted fully into the practice.
  • Work with management to ensure that all staff have a training plan and keep themselves professionally updated.
Clinical Practice
  • Practice independently in accordance with UKCC code of conduct and with reference to practice guidelines, appropriately referring to GPs and other professionals.
  • Develop and implement new health promotion and chronic disease management services.
  • Actively participate in educational programmes for the whole Primary Health Care Team, including medical students and GP Registrars, in relation to areas of clinical and practice nursing expertise.

  • Up-to-date training in childhood immunizations.
  • Health promotion.
  • Family planning.
  • RGN Qualification.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Accredited training in chronic disease management.
  • Cervical cytology qualification.
