About Us

The Wildlife Trusts represent a collective of 46 charitable organizations, unified by a central body, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT). Together, we boast a membership of 900,000 individuals, supported by 32,500 volunteers and a dedicated workforce of 3,400 across the UK.

As we embark on a transformative journey in our 110-year legacy, we are implementing a bold new strategy aimed at fostering a vision of nature's recovery, characterized by rich biodiversity and thriving ecosystems where both wildlife and communities flourish.

Our organization is committed to the restoration and stewardship of some of the UK's most cherished natural habitats. Collectively, we oversee over 2,300 nature reserves, manage 123 visitor and educational centers, and operate 29 working farms. Our efforts encompass research initiatives, advocacy for wildlife conservation, and facilitating public engagement with nature.

The upcoming years are pivotal in shaping the future of our environment. We are determined to reverse the decline of wildlife and initiate large-scale recovery efforts to avert ecological and climate crises.

We acknowledge that achieving these goals will necessitate significant, innovative changes in our operational approach, particularly in how we engage and empower communities.

About You

Are you passionate about safeguarding one of the UK's most beloved environmental charities from cyber threats? We have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join our IT Team at the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, tasked with protecting our data and systems from potential threats.

In this role, you will advocate for and assist in the implementation of the Wildlife Trusts Cyber Security Framework within RSWT and across our network. You will provide your expertise in information security to support Digital Transformation initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders to identify and raise awareness of risks, and work alongside the IT team and external partners to address alerts, security incidents, and manage vulnerabilities.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, technically proficient, and an effective communicator, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical team members.

You will play a crucial role in promoting awareness and the application of technical and policy controls derived from the Wildlife Trust Cyber Security Framework throughout our organization.

A solid understanding of current and emerging information security threats, particularly in a Microsoft cloud environment, along with appropriate technical countermeasures, is essential.

While experience in information security within the non-profit sector is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.

A genuine interest in our mission, coupled with exceptional communication and collaboration skills, will be vital in uniting our efforts to achieve the highest standards and optimal outcomes for nature.

The Wildlife Trusts uphold values of passion, respect, trust, integrity, pragmatic activism, and diversity. We are committed to inclusivity and encourage applications from individuals who are underrepresented in our field, including those from minority backgrounds and individuals with disabilities.

We are dedicated to fostering a movement that recognizes and values individual differences and identities.

At The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously. We are committed to promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

For relevant positions, candidates must be prepared to undergo checks with previous employers and appropriate background checks.

As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering interviews to candidates with disabilities who meet the essential criteria for the role. Please inform us if you require any adjustments to facilitate your participation in our recruitment process.

Please refrain from using artificial intelligence tools to assist in completing the application form, as applications generated through such means may not be accepted.
