Position Overview

As the Head of Strategic Partnerships, you will be responsible for leading a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) and mentoring them to foster a successful business environment within the Defence & Government sector. Your role will involve leveraging in-depth market insights to identify, plan, and develop opportunities throughout their entire lifecycle, focusing on both domestic and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Sales Management:
    Oversee the complete sales process, from initial lead generation to final order intake, while ensuring robust after-sales support.
  • Strategic Growth Initiatives:
    Formulate and implement strategic plans that align with the growth objectives of the organization, ensuring the achievement of targeted order intake and overall business expansion.
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    Direct the activities of the Business Development team, guiding them in identifying, qualifying, and delivering opportunities for capture, while navigating the bid cycle effectively.
  • Relationship Cultivation:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with both domestic and international clients, local influencers, and relevant industry forums.
  • Marketing Strategy:
    Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to develop marketing strategies for events, exhibitions, and promotional activities that highlight the capabilities within the Defence & Government sector.
  • Opportunity Assessment:
    Actively engage in opportunity qualification, contributing to critical bid/no-bid decision-making processes.
  • Market and Campaign Strategy:
    Lead the creation and evaluation of comprehensive market and campaign strategies to support order intake objectives, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Innovation and Business Models:
    Identify and implement innovative business models and market approaches, exploring potential partnerships to enhance market presence.
  • Team Capability Development:
    Enhance the skills and capabilities of the Business Development team to improve win rates, providing mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
  • Compliance and Ethical Standards:
    Ensure that all business development activities adhere to relevant governance requirements, maintaining high ethical standards and legal compliance.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess extensive experience in the Defence & Government sectors, ideally having transitioned from an end-user role to one focused on business development and strategy formulation. A proven track record in senior leadership positions, coupled with strong sales acumen, is essential. A degree in a relevant business or engineering discipline is preferred, along with a solid understanding of the technical landscape within the Defence & Government market.
