Position Overview

We are pleased to present an opportunity within the Oldham Care Organisation for a dedicated professional to join our Emergency Department at the Royal Oldham Hospital. This role is essential in supporting a skilled team of Consultants and junior medical personnel.

The position requires collaboration with Advanced Clinical Practitioners, clinical pharmacologists, nursing staff, and the therapy team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior member of the department, you will play a crucial role in mentoring and supervising junior medical staff within the Emergency Department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance and conducting patient reviews to uphold high standards of patient care and facilitate the education of junior staff.
  • Overseeing the performance of procedures by junior medical staff, ensuring they align with their level of expertise.
  • Fostering strong relationships with clinicians across various specialties, ensuring appropriate referrals for patient follow-up in both primary and secondary care settings.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid Licence to Practise.
  • Primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB).
  • A minimum of four years of full-time postgraduate training or equivalent experience, with at least 18 months in Emergency Medicine.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Progress towards an MD or PhD.
  • Certification in Adult Life Support (APLS/PiLS).

Knowledge and Experience

  • Relevant clinical knowledge and training as per the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.
  • Understanding of research principles.
  • Active involvement in audit processes.
