The IA unit evaluates threats to HMRC and its domestic and international partners across a wide array of issues at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

This role presents a diverse and stimulating work environment, addressing challenges from aiding policy development to combating serious organized crime.

We value diverse perspectives and experiences, and we encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds who possess the skills required for this position.

Job Responsibilities

As a senior leader within the IA division, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visible leadership that aligns team direction with broader strategic objectives, effectively coordinating geographically dispersed teams to deliver high-quality intelligence analysis and assessments.
  • Fostering a national performance culture, ensuring that professional standards are central to our operations, and delivering services that meet customer needs while instilling pride in our teams.
  • Facilitating collaboration with partners across HMRC and the wider government, actively promoting the IA's contributions to enhance customer understanding of our offerings.
  • Recognizing the significance of intelligence and information in assessments, ensuring that these evaluations are conducted to the highest analytical standards.
  • Supporting the continuous professional development of specialized teams, ensuring that our personnel remain highly skilled and valued for their contributions to the Customer Compliance Group.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in leading teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Expertise in guiding teams to conduct analysis from diverse sources.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with a focus on maintaining professional standards.
  • A willingness to learn from experiences and adapt approaches to enhance outcomes.
  • Effectiveness in creating an environment that encourages innovation and challenges the status quo.
  • The ability to build networks across various stakeholders to achieve team goals.
  • A commitment to promoting and defending team decisions to senior leadership.
  • An inspirational leadership style that nurtures an inclusive atmosphere and motivates staff through transitions.

We encourage applications from a wide range of candidates, and inclusive leadership behavior is essential for this role.

This position necessitates National Security Vetting at the Security Check (SC) level, and depending on the assigned role, you may need to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You must either hold SC clearance or be willing to apply for it. Following a successful SC application and probation period, you may be required to initiate DV vetting.
